GA2
A short hike to a beautiful viewpoint of the Prealps: The Hirzli

Our warm-up leads us through the village of Niederurnen to the station of the small gondola. Then soon the trail tests our stamina, as the first section is quite steep (locals think it isn't!) and leads us through a forest where some wood art please more or less. Then we are happy to have switch bags for the remaining altitude to gain. Sometimes we get a glimpse of the Walensee further down and then on the nice and surprisingly large platform we discover the full panorama with the lake area of Zurich, the high and impressing peaks of the canton of Glarus and so on. It is a great place to have lunch. Then we have to loose all the altitude again, on the chosen not exposed trail we hike down, forming a long loop over pasture and through mountain pine forest until we arrive at the gondola station again. On the gentle walk to the train station and not too tired, we can see to the area of another great hike.
